More Gundam to fill the backlogs

I haven't had no time to do much of anything outside of homework and study~ but I guess i have time to fill my backlogs

I've spent almost 38 dollars on Carousell so far, and I'm quite pleased to say that I've got 5 kits, albeit all in 1/144 scale, i guess you could say it was pretty worth it.

1) Kestrel NG 12Sgd

2) 3 Second Hand HG Seed kits (M1 Astray, Justice and Forbidden) 10 Sgd (For all)

The Astray was disassembled for sanding~

3) Dom Tropen (16 Sgd)

I plan to do a Domorama (Episode 4 Ver.) ^^

Okay here's my plans for the holidays,
1) Finish the Unicorn (Custom Base)
2) Finish the Zaku Hmt (Pre-Shade Test)
3) Recolor the Hg Wing Gundam (Lite purple Ver. + Panel Lining + Custom Base)
4) Domorama (Weathering + Brown Shading)
5) Finish the HyakuShiki (Plaplate Experiment)
6) Seed Re-remaster Project!

Wow that's a lot of plans... And that's barely half my backlog...

I hope I get at least half the stuff I planned done~

I've been stuggling to cope with life in JC so far. As you probably know, I've taken out all the time from my social life ~ for *me time* . That time includes
Building Gunpla~
Watching the sunset~
Wondering when this'll end~

I don't know why I made some of the choices I've made, which led me here. I want time, I really do.

1/144 Gundam Kestrel ♢From Dengeki Hobby♢

This is a neat piece! I got it off a seller on carousell for 12 bucks.

Although I saw it on sale for 10 at HAW, I didn't seize the opportunity to grab it, and someone bought it~ right before me. Oh well, 2 dollars may mean alot to me, but I'll take it as a reward for myself. Its been a harsh few weeks~ Project Work is catching up with me, Track and Field is leaving me behind to catch up with others, and worst of all, my grades have been stagnant...

This kit, although lacking in articulation, is packed with details from top to toe. I plan to modify the joints,at the arms and MAYBE the legs. 

I know masking is gonna be a big challenge for this kit, because of its scale. But that's not gonna stop me from doing it

HG Gundam Age: Genoace Custom ~ Custom

Hello guys! Or guy, or nobody... Meh my blog views have been dwindling since I stopped painting ):

But Im far too busy with school~ more project work, more track and field, and more homework than ever before...

As I mentioned before,I got this kit for 5 bucks!

I have so many great ideas on what I'm gonna paint it~ but im not sure if it'll work... Thats mainly because I really wanna test the Sinanju Red on him but I think the Genoace will look terrible in red... But I'm gonna go with it anyways! 

As for the review of this kit, I'd have to say a good 7/10~ Although it's abit small, it more than compensates for it in design. The fact that the designers of this went to the trouble of making it as 'kid-friendly' as possible, while still retaining (and in some cases improving) the HG name. It has many more panel lines than I initially expected~ accompanied by the added wrist joints and ankle flexibilty, it's truly a bang for your buck. However, it has a large and very disproportionate head, which really bugs me... That's my only complaint~

I wanted to reward myself for the lo

ngest time~ A partner for the unicorn,  THE SINANJU!😉😃😄

I wanted to pick up an action base for $9.90 at my local HAW

But then I saw this~

5 Dollars?!!!! So I bought it instead.

I haven't seen reviews on the Genoace custom before, so I'll be doing one when I have the time.

I plan to use it as a 'Test Kit" to experiment on my pre-shading, LED placement and different topcoats~ And I'll name it Genoace Custom Custom

MG Hyaku Shiki Pre-Paint Build Final!

And, this concludes the epic 3-part saga of the MG Hyaku Shiki!

This was a really fun build! And yeah, I do agree that this MG was a lot less challenging than the Nu. 

I think that's mainly because this was designed in 2002, and also because the undergated plated parts don't require alot of work~ No need for sanding.

Overall, the Hyaku Shiki, a kit my mum bought me in Taiwan, is a beautiful MG despite its weak joints. I've always loved mirror coated Gunpla and was elated when I finally got my hands on one~ 

HIQ Cation Decals (1/100 White) !

I bought some decals today, for $15 sgd or exactly 12 usd (As of 5th July 14)

Its supposed to be about 760 yen, about 7 usd. But I guess shipping does cost alot~

These waterslide caution decals from HIQ are superbly detailed~ I think they well surpass Bandai's decals in terms of design.


 ~THESE DECALS ARE BEAUTIFUL 😄

I really like the use of the yellow and gray, and  think it'll blend very well with the blue surface I'm planning to use it on (For le Hyaku Shiki)

This'll look great on any model that ,of course, isn't white.

MG Hyaku Shiki Pre-Paint Build Part 3

So I took some time off school today (Cos I'm sick) and completed the Kyaku Shiki's Head and shoulders~

The cons of this kit:

I think the main problem of this kit is the fact that it was designed back in 2002. It has polycaps for joints (I share a love/hate relationship with them)

This results in the shoulders and knees dislodging themselves often while posing.

Need to sand that off before painting (I got lazy)

The pros of this kit:

For one, the shiny shiny gold is the main attaction when you look at the Hyaku Shiki on the shelf. However, the reflectivity is a big problem for photography. This is because the gold reflects all the surroundings of the Gundam, hence making the gold (Which should be vibrant and bright) look dark and dull. This is the reason why when you google image search MG Hyaku Shiki, you will pretty much be dissapointed~ but I'll assure you right now that it looks much better in person

The second pro comes in the surprising 360 rotatable waist. 

Dayum look at that!

This opens a whole new world of posing possibilties for this kit.

For posing and display tips, I suppose you'd want to display this on your mid section shelf and that shelf should be white. The mid section of the shelf would catch the eyes of any person walking past your display~ and it will aldo flaunt the Hyaku Shiki's slim figure (while on the top shelf, you will be exposing the chubbier legs it has, and on the bottom shelf he won't be looked at)  

With the same "block chest" design as most UC Gundam have~ the same sideways pose will emphasise its elegance. But this time, because of its rotatable waist,

I'd pose it with the Clay Bazooka, but i was trying to clear the seamline, so it'll take some time for the glue to dry~

Posing tips: Nu Gundam

I've been thinking about dioramas and posing for the past few months, and I'd like to share some of my thoughts and ideas on posing my FIRST Master Grade : The Nu Gundam

Fun fact: I called it the v- gundam when I told the cashier I wanted it
(he gave me this look ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) )

First, we have to consider the Nu's form and physique. From what I see, it looks rather blocky around the chest area and has a rather small upper body. To enhance and emphasize its sleekness, you would want to pose it in such a way where it stands with its shoulders facing the attention instead of his chest.

Like so, as an added bonus, posing with the legs at an angle really shows of the details which are greatly enhanced by the psyho-frame.

Also, I personally feel that there is no pose that suits every part of your display shelf. You want to display your gunpla, in this case my Nu, in such a way that it would look natural, from the persons point of view.

"Die for me Jegans"

A pose like this may be appealing from a leveled viewing position, but if you would look at it from above, it no longer looks as sleek as it should. 

In my honest opinion, the Nu, which seems to lack detail from the top, is a Model best suited to be displayed on the top shelf. This would also help to emphasize the intricate details found on its legs, because that's the closest to the eye level on the top shelf.

The 'face' of the gundam also plays a role in your decision to pose the Gundam. You'd want to consider the size and the length of it's face.

The Nu has a rather long face to me

So staring down would make it luke more agressive and sleek. (Pun intended)
